  • Overview
    2022-2023 Season Mountain Host: If you have limited or no skiing or snowboarding skills, you may wish to apply to our Mountain Host program. If you are an expert skier or rider, you can also be a Mountain Host! Mountain Hosts assist Ski Patrol, Ski Area Management, and the public. The Mountain Host program will include youth and adults. The Mountain Host program can be a stepping stone for joining Ski Patrol, if you have the ski/ride skills and are able to complete the medical training required.
  • What We Require from You
    What We Require from Participants Age 15 and up Demonstrate positive and supportive attitude toward self, others, and the program Demonstrate willingness to learn the name of every slope at Cataloochee Ski Area (you can refer to our printed map) Demonstrate willingness to learn basic first aid Commit to serving for at least two sessions during the season Adult signs Wavier Form (for self). Parent or guardian signs for child Provide your own transportation and park where directed Provide own appropriate clothing for the weather conditions (yellow Mountain Host vest will be supplied) Upon acceptance, join NSP as Mountain Host Member and fulfill all requirements Cataloochee Ski Area will provide you with a meal for each six hours of service (during your service time); one all-day lift ticket for the same day to each approved Mountain Host participant for the day of their session or the next day (one ticket). The free lift ticket is not transferrable. Hosts who volunteer during the 2022-2023 season will qualify for a free season pass for the following season, and potential season pass for qualifying family members.
  • Dates and Times
    All dates are dependent on ski area conditions and management needs. Our times of greatest need are 8 AM to 3 PM. Our days of greatest need are holiday weekends -- MLK and President's Day, especially. We Prefer a Commitment to Two Sessions or More of the Following Dates -MLK Weekend Friday, January 13th. -MLK Weekend Saturday January 14th -MLK Weekend Sunday, January 15th. -President's Day Friday February 17th -President's Day Saturday February 18th. -President's Day Sunday February 19th -President's Day Weekend Monday February 20th Your help is also welcome on other dates! Mountain Hosts will work outdoors in all conditions. (Wind, rain, snow, sunshine--whatever nature and/or the snowmaking machines deliver.)
